Every beginning has a story...So does Veertly
Every beginning has a story, and so does Veertly. As a first blog post, we wanted to share the story of our co-founders Alexander Spahn and Joao Aguiam, and how they came about creating Veertly!
The story of Veertly beings in October 2019, when our co-founders were faced with a problem: Hundreds of fantastic meet ups were happening every single day, internationally. Unfortunately, these events were happening quite far away, and commuting all the time was just not feasible. This has brought on a question and a beginning to an idea: “How can we still attend the events and meetups we enjoy, without having to travel?”
Digging deeper for the solution, a research was conducted by the duo, which produced the following results: the main reason many people attend business events such as meetups, conferences and fairs is to network. This has also been confirmed by Curtis & Coulter, a company which specialises in hosting storytelling events:
““A big reason for going to conferences is to meet with likeminded people and industry peers. Conferences bring together people from all different geographical areas who share a common discipline or field, and they are a great way to meet new people in your field.”
As a result, Alex and Joao searched the market in order to find a solution for them, a platform or an online space that fosters networking and focuses on the creation of communities. A satisfying solution to attending events with networking features online was not found, and so they decided to build a platform themselves as a side project.
As COVID19 pandemic spread across the world in February 2020, Veertly was launched in order to enable event organisers and event goers to create interactive events and foster meaningful connections in a growing virtual world.
